rediscovering eden
Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth
Would care to know my name
Would care to feel my hurt
Who am I, that the bright and morning Star
Would choose to light the way
For my ever wandering heart
Not because of who I am
But because of what You've done
Not because of what I've done
But because of who You are
I am a flower quickly fading
Here today and gone tomorrow
A wave tossed in the ocean
A vapor in the wind
Still You hear me when I'm calling
Lord, You catch me when I'm falling
And You've told me who I am
I am Yours, I am Yours
Who Am I, that the eyes that see my sin
Would look on me with love
and watch me rise again
Who Am I, that the voice that calmed the sea
Would call out through the rain
And calm the storm in me
whom shall i fear
whom shall i fear
i am yours

Ok well I guess while I'm here, this would be a good time to post another blog.I have just returned from a great breakfast of...drumroll....rotiprata!! :D Haven't eaten it for SO long so it tasted really good. although extremely unhealthy but oh well :P Being in Singapore has been great...everything is so familiar to me and there are so many things I remember about it : the pastry shops like BreadTalk, the MRT, the curry puffs from Old Chang Kee, the tofu fa, the peanut pancakes, the rain trees covering the roads, the "uncles" and "aunties" who speak Chinese (my opportunity to converse in my limited mandarin! :P) and the feeling after it has just rained a WHOLE lot like a rain storm (we hardly have any thunderstorms in canada) like right now (it just poured!). I can't describe the feeling I had when our plane touched the ground. My sister and I were singing Singaporean songs like 'we are one Singapore' and 'where I belong' and it's so true: and as they become precious memories they'll be kept close to my heart and no matter where I am, I will always know where I belong. :)I really felt proud of singapore and felt like this is my homeland....the most patriotic I have felt in a while. I guess when you're living IN singapore you don't relaly notice it..it's only when you go away and come back that you come to appreciate all the little things about it. And come to love Singapore so much more. THe first dayw as pretty crazy...it technically was "night" for us back i nCanada so i stayed up the whole night without getting any sleep on the first " day" here in Singapore. Shopped at Mustafa and OG. Had chicken rice and tofu fa yu;m yum :) the second day, which was yesterday, we went downtoan and visited raffles city and walked down orchard road. but realluy i thi nk the shopping really isn't that great along orchard road..it's really upmarket and expensive. for e.g. i was walking thru takaashimaya and was looking at the prices. The dresses cost $837!! that's absolutley crazy in my opinion. I want cheap stuff! :P ended the day spending time with van <3> Thursday, November 5, 2009

hey. oh man i've been so bad at blogging...I guess it's because I just got facebook so I've been busy with that. It's amazing how it can take up so much of your time. :P It's SO hot today...hotter than I've ever remembered it to be. It's 32 degrees today and I spent my afternoon walking around Victoria park because we volunteered as part of the KW youth orchestra to play there. WHen we volunteered, we thought that first we were going to be background music and second that there were going to be other people from the orchestra there. well it turns out that we go there and there is a good group of people sitting on the grass watching this guy do this amazing stunt getting out of a straightjacket by dislocating his arm. IT was pretty cool but it kinda made us feel really intimidated that we were going to be going straight after this guy. AND we are the only people there from the youth orchestra....so right after the straight jacket guy, the announcer guy was like, "so coming up next we are VERY privileged to have the KW youth orchestra perform for us!" I was like OH NO uhh like we are the youth orchestra. haha...so all of us were kinda freaking out but we went up there and played and it didn't go too bad i guess. except for the last page turn...haha...XD listening to 'swear it again' by westlife <3anyways..just finished vacation bible school this week...I met some really cute kids especially this one kid called matthew. My sis and I were in charge of the 4-5 year olds, the youngest group and we had tons of fun with them. They say the most random things and get fascinated by things like how they have camouflage hats or how this one piece of paper sticks to their hands. We did this puppet theater for them and they loved it! even though my sis and I usually prepared the puppet thing the day itself..haha.. over breakfast.. oh wellsigh i feel like i have many things i need to do right now but I'm just pushing them aside and choosing to ignore them. It's not a very good feeling though. but when i put my mind to something sometimes it just gets overwhelming so i choose not to think about it. I guess I just have to know that God is in control no matter what and that He will make everything work out ok. I don't have to try on my own because my strength only goes so far but He will carry me on His wings and I will get thru. :Dbtw, i won't be posting pictures anymore on the blog because it's just much easier to post it on facebook so if you want to see pictures go to my account (Vivienne Tam). <3 Thursday, July 23, 2009

heyy. Vivienne here (: a quick update of my day. well in the morning i had a harmony lesson...booorring but i have my harmony exam coming up so i have to study hard and all. My sis was supposed to take half of it but she ended up not coming :( So I had to go the whole time. Then I watched arthur in french and a cooking show at the same time. (flipping in between channels haha...) I'm so happy I found Arthur in french. I used to watch arthur a lot when I was a kid then stopped as I grew older and now I feel like a kid again! Yay XD K then I planned my piano lessons. There are actually pretty good resources online for teaching piano. So basically I watched some videos to get some ideas. Oh man the kids I'm teaching are SOO cute. I love teaching kids :) The thing is they don't judge you like older kids would. They just accept whatever you say as truth haha...THen around 2 ish I started cooking dinner. I made chicken pot pie today. It took much longer than I thought it would though. i had to make the sauce stuff and the crust on top. But yay it actually turned out pretty well. So I'm happy about that. According to my sissy, it was delicious! :D THen, my sis and I went to MCCF (Mandarin Chinese Christian Fellowship) at the University of Waterloo. My mom wants us to go so that we can improve our Mandarin. They were having some 'Who wants to be a millionaire' competition testing stuff they learnt in their Bible studies so my sis and I just sat and watched. It was kinda hard though because they spoke really fast and all the book names were in Chinese...haha...Came home. Had a quick dinner. Chicken pot pie!! XD then went off to beechwood manor where I played the piano for the old folks. that was pretty relaxing..haha...played some oldies and well-known songs. I've probably played these songs like 4-5 times for them but oh well they still like it haha...came home and sat outside. To think and write in my diary. That was relaxing too. And refreshing. I met the neighbours while in my pensive mood. And now I'm on msn/blogging/facebook.. yay :D Friday, July 10, 2009

Hey. I've just come back from youth group. It ended early today so I walked back. :) We met the new English pastor today. He's nice :) He's Italian and he said that he would make us homemade pasta one day!!! He even grows his own tomatoes and makes his OWN pasta sauce. Is that cool or what? haha...I just had my wisdom teeth surgery two days ago. It wasn't too bad i guess. THe worst part was the part right before the surgery. They hooked me up to a heartbeat machine so everytime my heart beat you could hear a beep on the machine. Glad to know I'm alive :P So yeah there were like 3 wires running from me to this machine. And also they put tubes into my nose to give me extra oxygen. They had this blood pressure thing aroun dmy arm that took my blood pressure every 3 min. THAT was annoying. And of course, there was IV. It was painful...having the IV stuck into my hand. The nurse couldn't find my vein and had to tie this really tight rubberband around my arm so that my vein would pop up. I felt like one of those people in those chinese dramas....hooked up to all these machines. haha...Then, they put me to sleep. I went really fast. THe last thing I remember thinking was: hmm...my head feels kinda heavy. then that was it. I went out. Then I remember opening my eyes and the room's kinda dark. I'm sitting up in this chair and biting onto gauze. I had no feeling in my mouth and I was VERY sleepy. So I kinda opened my eyes then fell back asleep. The first day...all I did was change my gauze. I didn't really feel any pain. The next day, however, my cheeks swelled up like a chipmunk. It felt really weird :P And I had to have an ice pack next to my face the entire day. At least I could talk though. I think it's torture not to be able to talk. Anyway, today, for the FIRST time I ate "real" food. I had a grilled cheese sandwich!!! I was SO excited :D I was like, "Yay :) I can actually eat! " It feels so good to actually be able to eat something other than porridge or oatmeal. So yup I'm recovering well i think. :) I don't look that weird now...haha...My wisdom teeth are HUGE though. I asked the surgeon to keep them for me and they're like 3 times the size of my normal teeth. haha...viv Saturday, June 27, 2009

ok well since my sis probably won't post about her birthday, i will. I planned a semi-surprise for her. She woke up with my mom and I hitting her face with balloons and shouting 'Happy Birthday!!!' (oh man the balloons were SO hard to blow up...i'm not used to blowing balloons so even after I had huffed and puffed, the balloons were still so teeny weeny!!! and after I finally blew up a nice one, it got popped...sigh...haha..) she had pancakes for breakfast then later in the afternoon, I told her we were going swimming but earlier, we had filled water balloons and we had a water fight instead. More than half of our water balloons broke though...even before the water fight started :( oh well what can you expect from the dollar store...haha...then we went swimming, came back for dinner, played some games, baked (the cookies came out in one big sheet...because they all melted together...it was pretty funny ...haha...) and opened presents. all in all, i think it was a fun birthday :) now that it's summer, we've been having BBQ after BBQ. Tonight we're having another one.. XP I guess since we don't have a chance to in the winter, when summer comes, we go WILD. I went biking today in the morning to go buy devotionals for the Christian club in WCI. We went to Uptown Waterloo...the weather was beautiful and biking was tiring. I am presently very very sweaty...haha...We are leaving this coming Wednesday for the States to go visit Uncle Mel and AUntie Rosemary. It's their 50th wedding anniversary!!!! It's a 13 hour car ride though...at least i have my sister to entertain me in the car..haha...yay :D okie that's all for now. viv Monday, June 22, 2009

I'm really happy right now. I believe that no matter what happens, God is FAITHFUL and He will always answer prayers. But it's so easy to lose faith when things don't seem to be looking up. I have been experiencing a period of spiritual stagnation and I kept on asking God to bring me through this dry period...that He would show me more of Himself. Then, in my devotions one day, I felt that God wanted me to be still before Him. My heart is too busy and crowded out with the things of the world. He reminded me of the parable of the seeds and how the seed was choked out by the weeds of the world. It's really refreshing to sit by myself in my walk-in closet and just listen to God and talk to my Creator. Today, I almost couldn't find my physics textbook, which I need desperately if I am to get into the exam. I couldn't find it at home so I guessed that it was in my locker. I remember climbing up the stairs and realizing that I didn't have a backup plan. If it wasn't in my locker, I didn't know what to do. It's kinda scary to not have a backup plan...because I guess I'm so used to having control over my life...of knowing what's going to happen next. In those times, you just say to God...i can't do anything but trust in You because I don't have a backup plan. Anyway, God answers prayers, even trivial and menial ones haha... and it was in my locker!!! yay :D Yeah...so I'm learning to relinquish control over my life and let God take control because He knows the way I take and He knows what's best for me. I remember one thing a speaker said once: God is like a 1 and everything else that you do is a 0. If you don't put God first, all the zerioes before the one are useless and amount to anything. But if you put God first, he can make a 0000001 into 1000000. Because God multiplies your efforts. Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus :) He directs my paths and leads the way. Summer is one day away :) I'm listening to J.J. Lin right now :) and it already feels like summer. My sis is doing Math beside me and I guess I should be too haha...i have one last math exam tomorrow. Went out for Father's Day dinner last night and we sang a song for my Dad (that we composed). It was fun :) We went to this Korean place and i know this sounds really weird but the rice tasted really good :P I just LOVE korean rice. It's softer and stickier...haha...anyway, i had better go now. seeya. viv
